We know, there seems to be a Happy X Day for everything. So why does it matter, why do we give 10% of our profits to grass route ocean conservation charities? Well, let us share a few facts that matter to us all.
- The ocean is the largest ecosystem on Earth. You may have not seen it but it's there underwater brimming with life.
- Sealife keeps the ocean alive which as a body absorbs over 90% of the world's heat. That's a lot of warmth we would need to take.
- The ocean provides at least one-fifth of the animal protein people eat. With the population expected to grow to over 9 billion people by 2050, that is going to rapidly increase.
- Over 70 per cent of our planet’s oxygen is produced by the ocean. Nothing better than fresh air.
There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic waste estimated to be in our oceans. 269,000 tons float, 4 billion microfibers per km dwell below the surface.
That is why we are so proud to work with charities like @mission_blue, @see_turtles and @bdmlr_uk who are on the ground making a difference.
